The 2016 modern house designs
The truth is that modern house designs are in a continuous evolution. If you’re trying to find out what it’s evolving to, just take a look at what is going on inside its walls today.
Keeping that in our minds, we looked inside our series “New This Week”, filtering data and house discussions to search for strategies, concepts, and materials that will be coming to more houses in the year 2016
One concept of the modern house designs is represented by the two-tone kitchen cabinets. If you’re looking for a timeless, clean, feel keep the upper cabinets white or neutral. After that, you can go crazy with the lower cabinets by playing with deeper colors and different wood tones. This way, you will be taken your kitchen in two different directions regarding the style.
The outdoor fabric used indoor are becoming increasingly harder to be differentiated from the usual indoor fabrics so, many homeowners are bringing them inside where, due to their longevity, are perfect for living room and mostly crowded dining room furniture. These types of materials are included in the modern house designs.
Becoming more and more popular among the up-in-coming house owners are the colored stainless steel appliances. The results of a survey show that approximately two-thirds of the participants would prefer the dark metal rather than the classic shiny silver one. However, if dark doesn’t really agree with you, try the Whirlpool’s Sunset Bronze finish.
Large, or, better yet, extra-large-format tiles, from 12 by 24 inches (30,48cm by 60,96cm) to 31 by 71 inches (78,74cm by 180,34cm!) can be found more and more often in the modern bathroom and kitchens for quite some time now.
A modern house design feature that never really took off in America is the separate bidet unit in the bathrooms but, since the manufacturers started to make bidet and toilet units combinations, they have been catching on. 5% of the renovated master bathrooms (according to Houzz data) now also include bidets.
The same Houzz data reveals that the top kitchen priority during a remodel is the ease of storage. The idea of replacing lower kitchen cabinets with deep kitchen drawers has become more and more interesting, now it’s put into practice especially that is also more affordable. Inserts and dividers allow you to organize any size or shape of utensil, pan or dish, plus they are smarter solutions for the drawers placed in deep corners and the ones under kitchen sinks and range tops.
The formal dining room. There are not many people who take the leap to transform the dining room into a media room or an office. Those who frequently entertain pay a lot of attention to this type of rooms because having a designed space for gatherings and special dinners is a no-brainer for them.
Entryway heated floors can be most often found in bathrooms, of course. However, if you live in a cold region, it would be a good idea to put them in the entryway in order to dry the boots and help the snow melt.
